Today we talk about nutritional supplements and find out if they’re actually helpful or if they’re just a hard pill to swallow. Welcome to Dr. Devin’s Wellness Wednesday Workshop where my goal is to help you maintain or improve your active lifestyle. We will answer these questions today:

  1. What are the 2 different types of supplements?
  2. Does your body have the ability to absorb supplements with only 1 ingredient?
  3. What are the 2 supplement companies that we recommend?

Answers

  1. Synthetic and whole foo supplements
    1. Synthetic supplements are made in a lab via chemical reactions and only contain 1 chemical
      1. Your body absorbs them at an extremely low rate (if at all)
    2. Whole food supplements are grown on a farm, harvested, ground up with the water removed, and put into a pill
      1. They contain all of the micro/marco nutrients and co-enzymes that your body requires to be able to absorb the nutrients
  2. Your body needs all of the micro/marco nutrients and co-enzymes to absorb nutrients and utilize them
    1. You absorb only 20-30% of synthetic supplements
    2. You absorb 70-80% of whole food supplements
  3. We recommend Standard Process and Young Living supplements
