- How do you build the bridge to your goals?

- SMART goals are:
- Specific – state exactly what you want to accomplish
- Measurable – so you can know where you are in relation to your goals
- Achievable – the need to be reasonable and able to be done
- Realistic – it needs to be something that you can actually do
- Timely – you need to set a deadline for the shortest time period that you can
- You need to figure out specific action steps to get you one step closer to your desired goal.
- Example
- Goal –> lose 25 lbs. by August 2020
- Is it SMART?
- Yes.
- Action steps
- Join a gym (and use it) or start running multiple times per week
- Cut carbs
- Drink a shake for dinner
- Is it SMART?
- Goal –> lose 25 lbs. by August 2020
- Example
- Goal –> pay off $10,000 debt by 6/6/2020
- Is it SMART?
- No. For most people is not achievable to pay off $10,000 debt in a single month
- Action steps
- Cancel monthly memberships (Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, etc.)
- Move 20% of each check into a ‘debt buster’ bank account
- Stop eating out or drinking Starbucks
- Is it SMART?
- Goal –> pay off $10,000 debt by 6/6/2020
