One of the most common statements we hear in our office is:

“I guess it’s just arthritis.”

Many people receive an X-ray report, hear the word arthritis, and immediately assume that pain and limitation are simply part of their future.

But is that really true?

The answer is often no.

Arthritis is extremely common, especially as we age. In many cases, arthritis can be seen on X-rays years before symptoms ever develop.

That’s because arthritis itself is only one factor that influences how you feel.

Other important factors include:

• Inflammation
• Joint mobility
• Muscle strength
• Posture
• Activity levels
• Nutrition
• Sleep
• Stress

This helps explain why some people with significant arthritis remain active and independent, while others with only mild arthritis experience substantial discomfort.

Too often, people focus entirely on what an image shows and overlook what their body is capable of doing.

At Atkinson Family Chiropractic, our focus is not on creating perfect X-rays.

Our focus is helping people improve function, movement, and quality of life.

Can arthritis be reversed?

In most cases, no.

Can people with arthritis move better, feel better, and enjoy life more?

Absolutely.

As we continue our Summer Without Pain series, remember this:

Don’t let an X-ray determine your future.

Less Pain. More Life.
